Nice infographic from Kiss Metrics visualising the growth and subsequent valuation of Instagram after its sale to Facebook. I don’t think Instagram was worth $1bn, but its a smart move from Facebook – whose growth was largely down to photo sharing. They have neutralised a rival photo sharing network.

Socialcam – the next big thing?
Socialcam is like Instagram for videos. Essentially the app, which is available on both iPhone and Android allows you to create videos of any length with custom filters, store videos in the cloud & view them from any device, share your masterpiece with Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Email and SMS and browse all your friends/ followers videos.
You can search and watch other people’s videos
There is a stream which shows the most popular content
You can also comment on each other’s videos
The app is really easy to use and certainly makes your videos look a lot better. I can see it catching on. I’m sure it won’t be long before this is snapped up for $1bn…..

Gaga’s Social network
Lady Gaga has launched her very own social network called Little Monsters. Fans of the pop star use the site for all things Gaga; sharing pics, stories, Gaga events and sharing their experiences of the pop star with fellow enthusiasts.
Gaga can use this huge pool of advocates to instantly sell out her tour dates with little marketing effort.
To keep status updates on topic, they ask you questions about the pop star. Other typical social network features include adding friends, filling out your profile, commenting on posts etc etc
Another great feature for Gaga’s team is the instant market research they can get from their fans:
All in all, this is a great tool for the pop star to keep her fans engaged with her brand with little ongoing marketing effort. My concern would be over privacy/ online safety, what with this being a social network full of 11-15 years olds.
