Nice infographic from Kiss Metrics visualising the growth and subsequent valuation of Instagram after its sale to Facebook. I don’t think Instagram was worth $1bn, but its a smart move from Facebook – whose growth was largely down to photo sharing. They have neutralised a rival photo sharing network.

Facebook makes photos bigger and faster to load
What better time to make improvements to the photo service than now? Everyone is coming back from their summer holidays with hundreds of sun-kissed, margarita-fuelled snaps to make all their friends jealous with. So thank you Facebook. According to reports 250 million photos are uploaded each day, which therefore goes to show that sharing pictures is one of the most popular activities on Facebook. As a result, Facebook have now introduced some improvements to the way you view photos.
The photos are now bigger (720 pixels to 960 pixels) and load twice as fast, giving you quicker access to larger and clearer images. Along with this, all past photo uploads are too displayed at this higher resolution.

The great thing about this Facebook app is that users can compare recipes’ ingredients, calories, fat content, and nutritional values, at the same time as seeking advice from Facebook friends, or users of the app with matching tantalising taste-buds. No longer will you be stuck with what to cook for dinner anymore!
