They may now have a substantial rising user-base, reaching over 25 million registered users, but Google’s latest prodigy is already experiencing a decline in the number of daily visits. Could it be that people initially created an account to check out what the fuss was all about, and left it at that upon realising that only a small percentage of their friends were actually invited to make an account, and that the conversations on there were pretty much the same as the ones they were having on Twitter and Facebook? Or is it a case of people not really knowing what to do on Google +?
This is why perhaps, G+ has introduced measures to ensure people start spending more time using the social network, and to further consolidate its position as the mother of all social networking sites. They have started this process by bringing in more richer content in the form of games. To top it all off (and fuel their ongoing feud with Facebook) they have announced that they will only be taking 5% of the games revenues, as opposed to Facebook’s greedy 30%. This means that game developers will thus be more inclined to offer their services to G+ as they get a better percentage offer, therefore drawing in more game-loving fans to G+ (Win win).
The games that have been launched for the initial roll-out include the nation’s favourite, Angry Birds. Along with this comes some other great time-wasters, such as Bejeweled Blitz, Bubble Island, City of Wonder, Crime City, Diamond Dash and Sudoku. Luckily, Google has said they are keeping the game notifications separate from the conversation streams, so these games will not continuously bother you or clog up your home feed. Time to get playing!
