Nice infographic from Kiss Metrics visualising the growth and subsequent valuation of Instagram after its sale to Facebook. I don’t think Instagram was worth $1bn, but its a smart move from Facebook – whose growth was largely down to photo sharing. They have neutralised a rival photo sharing network.
President Obama has added Instagram to his growing portfolio of social platforms he uses to disseminate his messages. Its no secret that Obama’s rise to the White House was billed as the first ‘digital’ election with his almost ‘shotgun’ approach to social media during the presidential elections. Joining Instagram and even using promoted tweets suggests that Obama and his team are not getting sloppy when it comes to social media.
